Challenge: a privacy notice on one page

18 September 2026 · 1 min

Article 12 GDPR requires information to data subjects to be provided in a concise, transparent, intelligible and easily accessible form, using clear and plain language.

These are precise requirements. How many privacy notices you know meet all of them?

The challenge

Take the privacy notice of your company, firm or project. Rewrite it on a single page.

There are three rules:

  1. No mandatory information may disappear. It can be moved, reorganised, placed in a second layer. Not deleted.
  2. Every sentence must be readable aloud without stumbling.
  3. Before sending it to me, have someone who does not know your work read it. Ask them to explain what happens to their data.

Organise the information around the reader's questions, not around the order of the articles: who processes my data, why, for how long, who they share it with, what I can do.

What I will do

Send me the before and after versions at marco@giacomello.digital, subject "Privacy notice challenge". I will read them all. With your consent, I will publish the best transformations, without identifying details, and explain what makes them work.

Clarity, not simplicity. A notice can stay complete and become readable.

Let’s discuss

Which piece of information in your privacy notice do you think nobody has ever really understood?
